The English Garden Magazine

Since January 2012 I have been working with the team at The English Garden magazine to create four page food and recipe articles for every monthly edition.

Photographed by Jason Ingram, we shoot two months of recipes on one day, in my kitchen and garden, making every shot look homely and light as possible. We use vintage props, fresh flowers, garden herbs and seasonal produce to showcase rustic recipes.

The theme has stayed the same throughout: simple, easy, frugal, seasonal recipes that gardeners can source from their kitchen garden or farmers market and make with the minimum of fuss and the maximum of taste. So, for the October 2013 edition we focused on squashes, mushrooms, watercress, partridges, pears and blackberries, using the gardener’s glut to create warming dishes that take very little time and technique to prepare.

We work one year ahead, so that the recipes I am working on for next month’s recipes can be seen this time next year.

I hope you enjoy cooking the recipes as much as we have enjoyed creating and shooting them!
