A Foodie Fair at Kelmarsh Hall

As an advocate of fresh, locally sourced food, Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire is proud to host a Christmas Fair in December that will include several local food exhibitors.

From organic honey and fine food hampers to 17 different flavours of cheese, Christmas at Kelmarsh will showcase a range of the county’s quality food producers.

The event, which also includes cooking demonstrations and tasting, takes place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December from 10am to 4pm.

Exhibitors include:

  • Fleurfields Vineyard – award-winning sparkling wine
  • Capon and Harvey – liquors, rare whiskey, handmade mustard
  • Montagu Hampers
  • The Larder – deli foods including cheese, olives and pâté
  • JOC Products – organic honey, olive oil, meats
  • Cake Deco – bespoke celebration cakes and cake toppers
  • Lymn Bank Farm – handmade cheddar cheese in 17 different flavours

Kelmarsh Hall takes the idea of good, fresh food seriously – last year saw the launch of the ‘Growing Kelmarsh’ project to bring the historic walled kitchen garden back to life and to re-establish the hall’s food-growing past. The garden is buzzing once again thanks to the Lottery-backed initiative – volunteers and community groups now use the space to grow vegetables to sell in the gift shop and use in veg boxes. There have also been outdoor cooking demonstrations, while school visits are encouraged to help children learn about their food’s journey from soil to supper. A children’s story-telling event which included cooking workshops was held in the kitchen garden in August.

The idea of locally-sourced food will continue at the two-day Christmas at Kelmarsh event, which is sponsored by Hartwell Land Rover. There will also be more than 30 stalls selling gifts and jewellery.

Kelmarsh Hall is located 5 miles south of Market Harborough on the Leicestershire and Northamptonshire border.
