TOAST Festival of Food

TOAST is a weekend-long celebration of food and ideas, bringing together chefs, restaurateurs, writers, entrepreneurs and producers to discuss and debate the big ideas behind what Londoners eat and drink. Taking place at Red Gallery in Shoreditch on 1st and 2nd June 2013 the festival will feature large panel discussions, intimate workshops, tastings, book signings, and an after party at Rotary Bar and Diner.

From debates on sustainablility, entrepreneurship and the future of food writing, to a food photography workshop, urban foraging walk and Bompas & Parr’s talk on toasting, there’s something to feed every food obsession.

Plus, food from Street Kitchen, a coffee bar from Dunnefrankowski, a pop-up cookbook shop from Daunt and the latest food magazines from Material (along with a specially curated art exhibition).

The TOAST shop will feature books from Londoners’ favourite bookseller Daunt Books, as well as international food magazines and original artwork curated by Material Gallery. The shop will also feature several products produced specially for TOAST 2013.

Gourmet street food slingers Street Kitchen are developing a special menu for the festival. They use 100% UK ingredients sourced directly from farms so the produce is fresh, sustainable and, of course, delicious.

If you fancy something sweet and refreshing, Ice Kitchen will have artisan ice lollies in both classic and more unusual flavours, from strawberry and banana to roasted peach and pink mojito. There will also be superb gelato provided by Covent Garden’s La Gelatiera.

And in keeping with our name, Gail’s Bakery will have a toasting station serving their freshly toasted bread with a range of spreads as well as classic cheese and ham toasties.

TOAST is a fundraising event for international humanitarian aid organisation Action Against Hunger.
