A Lecture and Lunch with Diana Henry at Thyme At Southrop Manor

On Friday 5th October 2012, The Foodie Bugle and the Thyme team are organising a wonderful lecture and lunch party to celebrate the launch of Diana Henry’s new book “Salt Sugar Smoke: The Definitive Guide to Conserving, from Jams and Jellies to Smoking and Curing” to be published by Mitchell Beazley. In her beautiful new book Diana shows you how to preserve the kitchen garden’s glut, from chutneys and pickles, smoked and potted meats and cured fish, cordials and alcohols, vegetables in oil, mustards and vinegars. You too can have dream larder produce, to take you right through winter.

Diana Henry is one of Britain’s most loved food writers, author of the weekly Stella Magazine cookery articles in The Sunday Telegraph and six seminal cookbooks, including: Roast Figs Sugar Snow; The Gastropub Cookbook; Cook Simple and Food from Plenty. She was named ‘Cookery Writer of the Year’ by The Guild of Food Writers in 2009 and in 2007 and is a contributor to many magazines including Red, House and Garden, Country Living and Waitrose Kitchen Magazine.

The day starts at 10am with teas and coffees and biscuits prepared by Thyme’s Chefs Daryll and Marj, served in the Tithe Barn. We will then move upstairs to the granary lecture room, so that Diana can tell us all about the book as well as answering questions about her life, travel and work. After a seasonal lunch, drawing inspiration from “Salt Sugar Smoke”, and using ingredients from Thyme’s kitchen gardens, herb gardens and farm, we can all enjoy a guided walk around the Southrop Manor Estate with Head Gardener Joff Elphick.

If you would like to book a ticket for this event, priced at £45 per person, please book here.
